Can't see what X is but I'd go straight off the switched 12v on the fuse box, you can probably get a piggy back spade in there somewhere and not have to cut any wires or anything. My kadett's a B so can't say which one. Your Haynes manual should tell you which fuse though and you can check it with a meter.
