What type of car is it? You need to join onto a switched live (ie. only live when the ignition is on) and run an inline fuse holder to the amp. I haven't done it in years but on the older cars there were 2 lives feeding the stereo (one permanent live one switched). Use a scotch block or similar to join into that. Another option if available was to use the live feeding the cigarette lighter.
Your unit has a 5 amp max so try to take it off a 15 amp feed if you can. Check the fuse diagram for info.
