Despite all the speculation as to the exsistance i can confirm that i do indeed own a RHD/V8/Targa Top Opel GT.....here's some pics to finally put you out of your missery.....ENJOY!
I've pictured her next to my 'normal' GT......and that's hardly normal as it's running a 2.5 CIH, Emerald ECU (190bhp), 5speed, LSD, Irmscher Brakes and 8.5*15 BBS RM's!
As for the Targa....well where do i start. It was originally a US specification 1.9, manual GT......but that was 10yrs ago and a huge amount of money has been spent since, to give you an idea here's a brief spec:
About 10yrs ago it was converted to RHD. This was not a straight forward conversion as the original leaf spring suspension was ditched to be replaced by a double wishbone, coil-over shocker set up. There's also an anti-dive tie rod installation.
The engine was originally a low compression 3.5 V8, but this was replaced 3yrs ago with a lightened and balance unit, running a Holley 4barrel carb.
Gearbox wise she has a BMW 735i auto box (completely rebuilt and done about 100miles), this is fitted to a Range Rover bell-housing.
To complete the RHD a dash has been fully fabricated utilising a Rover P6 dash. Because it's nice and compact it gives the interior more space. Theres a heater box from a mini, blowing air to the screen, mid interior and feet.
The rest of the interior has been treated to a leather and Alcantara and nice a set of Willans race harnesses.
She has a bespoke full Stainless exhausts system with twin 2 1/2inch outlet pipes
Suspension has been uprated all round, she's very stiff and the finishing touch are the monster 8*17 and 10*17 Brock alloys!!!!
Anyway enjoy the pics.
